Seafood Lasagna Shrimp Crab

Seafood Lasagna with Shrimp & Crab: A Creamy Coastal Twist on a Classic Favorite

Lasagna may be an Italian comfort-food icon, but swap the traditional meat sauce for tender shrimp, sweet crab, and a velvety cream sauce, and suddenly you have a dish that feels luxurious, coastal, and totally unforgettable.

Seafood Lasagna with Shrimp and Crab is the kind of meal that turns an ordinary dinner into a special occasion — rich enough for holidays, yet simple enough for any weekend gathering. Every bite offers layers of creamy cheese, delicate seafood, buttery noodles, and hints of garlic and herbs.

If you love Alfredo-style pastas and classic lasagna, this is your dream fusion dish.

Why This Seafood Lasagna Works

  • Mild, sweet seafood complements the cream sauce beautifully

  • Three cheeses (ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan) deliver richness without overpowering the seafood

  • A white béchamel/Alfredo-style sauce keeps the flavors light and coastal

  • Easy to make ahead — perfect for entertaining

  • Elegant presentation but surprisingly beginner-friendly

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1 tsp lemon zest (optional but brightens seafood flavor)

  • Pinch of salt and pepper

For the White Sauce

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • 4 tbsp flour

  • 3 cups whole milk or half-and-half

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)

  • Salt & pepper

Other

  • 9–12 lasagna noodles (oven-ready or cooked according to package)

  • 1–1½ cups shredded mozzarella (for top)

  • Extra parsley for garnish

Instructions

1. Cook the Seafood

  1. In a skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat.

  2. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.

  3. Stir in chopped shrimp, season lightly with salt, pepper, and optional Old Bay.

  4. Cook just until shrimp turn pink — about 2–3 minutes.

  5. Remove from heat and gently fold in the crab meat.

Set aside.

2. Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a large bowl, combine:

  • ricotta

  • 1 cup mozzarella

  • ½ cup Parmesan

  • egg

  • parsley

  • lemon zest

  • salt and pepper

Mix until smooth.

3. Make the White Sauce

  1. Melt 4 tbsp butter in a saucepan.

  2. Whisk in flour to form a smooth roux; cook 1 minute.

  3. Slowly add milk or half-and-half, whisking continuously.

  4. Add Parmesan, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

  5. Simmer until thickened.

4. Assemble the Lasagna

In a greased 9x13 baking dish:

  1. Spread a thin layer of white sauce on the bottom.

  2. Add a layer of lasagna noodles.

  3. Spread ⅓ of the cheese mixture.

  4. Add ⅓ of the seafood mixture.

  5. Drizzle white sauce over the layer.

Repeat layers 2 more times.
Finish with noodles, sauce, and a generous topping of mozzarella.

5. Bake

  • Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes.

  • Remove foil and bake 15–20 minutes more until bubbly and golden.

  • Rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing (this helps the layers set).
